Dubbed the ‘Shalehouse’, this boutique hotel-inspired design is a contemporary masterpiece. Located in the heart of Craigleith in the Blue Mountains, perched above Georgian Bay near the base of Alpine and Craigleith Ski Clubs, this private setting is truly magnificent. Approaching the home down a private, tree lined driveway, subtle intrigue gives way to a grand artistic design expression that pairs perfectly with its surrounding property.

Facing due south with a sprawling back patio with a big view of Georgian Bay, the property backs onto Crown land of Craigleith Provincial Park, land that will never be developed, providing a feeling of expanded acreage.

The inspiration for the ‘Shalehouse’ began when the first foundational test dig was performed. The deep excavation for the inground pool revealed the beautiful, native blue shale rock, providing a rock solid footing to the home. Rising from the ground, the meticulously planned views revealed themselves through the placement of glazing. All looked northward over Georgian Bay, towards a shallow shoreline area called Shale Rock, an area favoured by local fisherman for decades to stand wading in and casting.
